Product Overview
BIOCRYL® RAPIDE® Material is a second generation biocomposite material composed of 30% osteoconductive β-TCP and 70% poly-lactide co-glycolide (PLGA). A proprietary Micro-Particle Dispersion (MPD) manufacturing process ensures a homogenous dispersion of the composite materials reducing the incidence of stress risers within the implant, while ensuring osteoconductive β-TCP is in close apposition with the surrounding bone tissues during the absorption process. Mitek Sports Medicine offers a full portfolio of suture anchors and interference screws made from BIOCRYL RAPIDE Material. Several long term Human CT imaging studies have shown that BIOCRYL RAPIDE Material absorbs over time and allows for boney replacement at the screw site.¹,²,³
In a long-term, controlled study, BIOCRYL RAPIDE and PLA Materials were evaluated in cortical femoral bone of Beagles. Following implantation, sections of the implant sites were examined histologically as seen below. (https://www.depuysynthes.com/)
