Usually prescribed to accommodate the insensate diabetic foot, these orthotics provide increased shock absorption and redistributes pressure away from lesions. They are accommodative only, but are ideal for patients with sensitive skin and ulceration due to diabetes or lack of sensation in the feet.
Diabetic orthotics provide support to the sensitive foot and relief to pressure points, are easy to trim and fit in most diabetic shoes. They come in two different formats:
Level Base – Neutrally ground, sits flat within patient’s shoe and is ready for dispensing.
Round Base – Requires customized grinding by practitioner prior to dispensing.
