•Wedge tip slides between tight bone spaces to begin distraction
•Interdigitated paddles allow strong prongs to employ a narrow profile upon entry
•Bowed prongs are smooth on one side, deeply serrated on the other
•When closed, the smooth side is exposed and allows easy entry into joint space
•When distracting, serrated side is exposed and engages the surfaces of the joint securely.
