Product Overview
The AOS Small Bone Nail System is intended for fixation of fractures and osteotomies of the fibula, radius, and ulna, including fractures where the medullary canal is narrow or flexibility of the implant is paramount.
Fibula fractures are predominately fixed with plates. However, there are significant advantages in some cases for the nailing these same fractures. With leading champion surgeons who specialize in the area of small fractures, AOS has designed a system that has the same indications as plating but deliver anatomical advantages for reductions of fractures with consideration of patients with fragile bone structure.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
Smaller Sizes than the Competition
• The Fibular Nail has 2 Diameters, 2.5mm Solid Nail and 3.0mm Cannulated Nail:
â—‹ 3 Screw Configurations.
â—‹ 4 Lengths.
â—‹ Side Specific to right and left anatomy for all three nail options.
• The Ulna Nail is contoured to ease insertion and closely match the curvature of the ulnar canal. It also has:
â—‹ 1 Proximal Screw Configuration (2 oblique screws into the olecranon, 2 screws into the coronoid, 2 transverse screws).
â—‹ 7mm Distal Locking Screw Hole.
â—‹ 2 Diameters, both cannulated (4.0mm and 5.0mm).
â—‹ 4 Lengths (200, 220, 240, and 260mm).
â—‹ Side Specific (Right and Left).
â—‹ 16 different nail options.
• The Radius Nail is contoured to ease insertion and closely match the geometry of the radial canal. It also has:
â—‹ 1 Distal Screw Configuration (2 oblique screws, including one into the styloid).
â—‹ 2 Diameters, both cannulated (3.0mm and 3.6mm).
â—‹ 4 Lengths (190, 210, 230mm).
â—‹ Side Specific (Right and Left).
â—‹ 12 different nail options.
• All Nails can be used in conjunction with the Fibonacci Lower Extremity Plates.
• Significantly fewer wound complications with nails.
• Skin and Soft tissue trauma is decreased because of less tissue dissection.
• Nails lessen the load bearing throughout the healing process and as a result accelerate patient rehabilitation.
• Alternative Options for the treatment of fractures and osteotomies of the radius and ulna over traditional plating.
• Verbrugge Forceps, 60° offset of Jaw.
• Variations in length
â—‹ Radius Nail design provide 12 different nail options.
â—‹ Fibular Nail design has 48 different nail options.
â—‹ Ulnar Nail has 16 different nail options.
• Countersink 3.5mm and 2.7mm Screws eliminate screw head prominence.
• Superiorly tilted and built-in Anteversion of the syndesmotic screws for the fibular nail provide enhanced anatomical screw trajectories through the syndesmosis.
